Roles

Write a role once and send it with any message, so the email says what the job is, where it is, and what it pays.

A role is what you are hiring for: the title, where it is, what it pays, and what the schedule is. You write it once and send it with any message.

Why send a role

Without a role, the email can only say that your company thinks the person might fit "one of their roles". With one, it names the role and shows its location, pay and schedule above your message. A clinician can tell in a few seconds whether to reply.

Adding a role

Go to Roles in the top navigation and choose Add a role. You can also choose Add a role on any message form, without leaving the message.

FieldWhat to write
Role titleThe title a clinician would search for, such as "General Surgeon"
Profession and specialtyPick from the list or type your own. A physician role needs a specialty; for any other profession it is optional
Where the work is doneOn site, remote, or hybrid
LocationsA city and state. Add as many as the role has
PayOptional. In your own words, such as "$320,000 base, $150,000 sign-on"
ScheduleOptional. Such as "7 on, 7 off. No nights or weekends."
What makes it worth a replyA few lines on what sets the role apart

Only the title is required. Leave pay out if you do not publish it: the email then shows no pay line, and nothing in its place.

Start from a job description

Have the job description already? At the top of the form, drop in the file (PDF, Word or plain text, up to 5 MB) or paste the text and choose Read the description. Tenure reads it and fills the title, profession, specialty, locations, whether it is remote, the pay, the schedule and the lines that make it worth a reply, from what the description says and nothing more. Anything you had already typed is left as it was. A note under the description says which fields it filled; check them, change what you like, then save.

The description stays with the role for Tenure's search. It is not sent in the email: the email shows the fields above, and your message.

Remote and hybrid roles

Choose Remote for a role done from anywhere. The locations field then asks where the clinician must be licensed or based. Leave it empty if the role is open to clinicians anywhere, or add a state for each one that applies. The email reads "Remote", or "Remote · licensed or based in FL; GA".

Choose Hybrid for a role that is partly on site, and add the site they come in to. The email reads "Hybrid · Tampa, FL".

Every run you start adds its role to this list, so roles you have sourced for are already here. It works the other way too: when you start a run, Start from a saved role fills the run's fields from a role here.

Sending a role with a message

On a message form, choose a role under Role. The preview beside the form shows the email with the role in it. To send a message on its own, choose Send without a role.

The role picker is on every message form: a candidate's page, Reach out on a search result, and the form for messaging several people at once. When you message several people, they all receive the same role.

What the candidate sees

The email shows the role's title, profession, specialty and locations, then whichever of pay, schedule and your few lines about it you filled in. Your own message follows. The full job description is kept with the role and is not sent in the email.

Changing and archiving a role

Choose Edit on a role to change it. A change applies to messages you send from then on. Messages already sent keep what they said.

Choose Archive when a role is filled or closed, then confirm on the card. An archived role leaves the picker and can no longer be sent. Choose Show archived roles to find it again, and Restore to bring it back.
